With all due respect, you're misquoting those who complain about
watermarks and shifting the argument in a way that strikes me as trying
to change the subject.

I don't believe anyone here said you should never use a watermark, but
you should not make it so big or centrally-placed that it makes the
image harder to view.

There's a balance between adequately protecting your images, and driving
away customers. Look at how I handle the watermark on my website --
it's there, but it isn't in giant letters right in the middle of my image.

I would also note that, in the case that brought my comments on the
subject, the watermark was not only taking up most of the image space,
but didn't even include the copyright symbol.
