Yea - I have people come in and say nothing - I figure they are shy and don't want to be hassled. I do listen in to their conversations and read between the lines on comments.
Did you have smaller works that could leaf through? On the GOOD side is that you actually had people come into your place. That to me means you had something to offer just not what they were looking for. Also perhaps THAT particular show did not have the people you were looking for.
I've found that every show seems to have a different feel on what people like and don;t like. One show I'll have one particular image drawing people in and the next it's not even looked at.
Compliments are good and bad - you have to be realistic - are they polite compliments or actual compliments! I get both and then I have to weed out the polite ones - they don't count.
Also - I wish I could put a stop watch on every image. The longer someone looks the more they like it. I would love to have a timer on each image, make my job easier.
