[artshow_photo] Re: My First Show.

We've only done 2 shows so far, #3 is this weekend, so I'm not the giant mass of experience that many others here are. Our first show sounds very very similar to yours. $125 to get in and we only sold $30. There were lots and lots of people who talked about how they loved her work...and then they walked out and we never saw them agin.

This past weekend was very different. Much much smaller show (35 artists as opposed to the over 300 that were at Portland), it was only 4 hrs long, and this one was free. We still had a bunch of people come in and talked about how they loved her work, but this time some of them bought it. We got a total of $170 this time around. Not huge, but a definate improvement.

Each time you go out there you're making connections, you're getting your work seen, and you're learning. Just build on it.

I sold nothing, but did have a good number of folks coming through my booth who had a lot of good things to say about my landscape photography.

In your experience, is it typical that people enter your booth and don't even look at you or say hello? I just found it annoying that most of them came in and wouldn't even make eye contact, though they had things to say to each other about the photograph.
