Well, Let me say. You may have a valid point.
In my case you are wrong. I alos think with my fellow large format shooters who also do this will think you are wrong.
I have the big powerful images that you suggest in my booth. When people see that with the handmade cherrywood 4x5 camera setup close by, they come in as if I have a large magnet.
My sales from the fact that I am perceived as an artist/master photographer with this setup is way beyond comprehension.
People say "what a minute, you photograph with that to make this?"
I say, "why yes, what questions do you have about my process?
Done deal.
I can do this because I am bonifide/ real deal large format photographer who goes thru serious artistic pains to bring fine art images to my collectors.
I also get some large doses of chemisty in my veins from doing this :)

Also my clients want to and are willing to know what equipment I use. That s why I have my 4x5 setup. I would set up the larger ones but I have no room.
Hence the fact of why I sellso much fine art B&W photographic images.
Lastly, this is not to knock the 35mm shooters out there. Hell, Galen Rowell is one of my heros, not to mention, joel meyerowitz, gary winogrand, william eggleston, walker evans, josef koudelka, and many others. Afew great 35mm shooters come to our shows down here in the Fl Keys. (I am the show chairman of the Fl Keys Art Guild).
But, I will out sell all of them because.
1. Large powerful images
2. Old School
3. People perceive and acknowlede the fact that I am a craftsman of the art.
4. They can experience the tools I use and appreciate the work that goes into it.
