On the other hand, their most telling point is based on the size of
the images if you save them as TIFFs. But who shoots RAW and then saves
their files as TIFFs? As far as I'm concerned, the "real" images are the
RAW files, which are supervised by LightRoom. TIFF and JPEG are the
equivalent of prints, something to be delivered to clients when I'm done
with them.
Yes, I do have images that are in PSD format because I'm doing
additional work on them*, but those are rare. The bulk of the images
will always be RAW on my system, if they are in another format it's
generally temporary. And for backup I use mirrored drives on the server
with the occasional copy to an external drive to take offsite. I've
never burned data to a DVD and don't expect to.

* Most common purpose for that? Shooting mirrors for artist customers. I
shoot the mirror to get the frame (which is the work they're interested
in) as well imaged as possible, then later splice in some idealized
living room or kitchen in the background
