What make a D90 more of a professional camera over the D5000??
Thanks

If you mean not a short time = 2 years or more, than don't even think about
it. The technology and features and pricing will have changed quite a bit
by then.
But you can easily figure that if you want to do sports today, what the
price would be. Price the lenses you need first and then check out a body.
The big money is in the glass if you can't use cheap glass, and I suspect
you can't for most sports photogrpahy.

Memory cards are relatively cheap, and may be compatable for years to come.
Glass is the important part. If you buy a top notch Nikon [or Canon,
whatever] lens it will be good for a long time as long as you don't change
brands.
