It's mainly the build quality and the size of the ink tanks. The 3880
uses larger cartridges (80ml) than the 2880 (12ml). The Pro printers
use big tanks -- 110ml or 220ml, and in the case of the newest Pro
Printers 150, 350 or 700 ml tanks. For smaller prints, the 2880 can be
a good choice. I started out using a 2200 and ran many prints on it
until graduating to a 4800 and a 7800. The 2880 is not made to produce
large quantities of prints day in and day out, but unless you are a
lab, you're unlikely to overstress it.
