RE: [artshow_photo] Re:Printers

Don't underestimate the advantage of those larger ink cartridges. I bought
a 3800 a few years ago and I have probably spent about $350 dollars in ink
so far. I don't know about the 3880 but the 3800 came with a full set of
ink which is worth about $350. The initial set of ink lasted me almost a
year. On the 2200 that it replaced I was constantly buying ink. Aside from
the larger cost of buying ink all the time it is also a hassle to be
constantly buying it. One drawback of the 3800 is that I need to print at
least once a week or I have to run a cleaning cycle. It likes to be kept
busy.

It's mainly the build quality and the size of the ink tanks. The 3880
uses larger cartridges (80ml) than the 2880 (12ml). The Pro printers
use big tanks -- 110ml or 220ml, and in the case of the newest Pro
Printers 150, 350 or 700 ml tanks. For smaller prints, the 2880 can be
a good choice. I started out using a 2200 and ran many prints on it
until graduating to a 4800 and a 7800. The 2880 is not made to produce
large quantities of prints day in and day out, but unless you are a
lab, you're unlikely to overstress it.
