Re: [artshow_photo] Printers

I started with an Epson 1800 then to a 3800 and now a 4880. I bought the 4880
only because Epson had a coupon that brought the price down to that of a 3880
earlier in the year.
The 3880 is an excellent 17" printer and work the investment. The 4880 is a
sturdier build and takes larger cartidges (up to 220ml) and supports roll paper.
If you care about the longevity of your prints, I would certainly stay away from
the dye-based inks of the Epson printers below the 2880. If you are just
printing greeting cards, then buy some sub-$100 printer.
Also the cost of inks as time goes on can be quite significant, but if it for
occasional prints, it would probably take quite a while to make up the
difference in price.
You could do a search on the luminouslandscape.com Discusssion Forum for ink and
paper costs per printer. I know I've seen some analyses there.
I have been very pleased with my Epson printers over the years.
