Thank you everyone,
I have been searching and reading up on all of your suggestions.
I am still deciding. I also came across this Naneu
pack that has a separate photo section that looks enticing.

I may also limit my lenses to just a 24-70 and a 100-400mm
so I have wide angle & reach. My tripod is carbon fiber so its light
and easily maneuverable and since I often shoot slow shutter speeds,
I always carry it. I am not in a hurry so I can research all of your suggestions
in depth :)
I am new to this group and make the rounds in spring/summer to various
festivals & art shows along the left coast and look forward to reading and
contributing when I can.
Blessings,
Carlton

I own both an older Gregory and Dana backpack. I use the Dana for the wildlife photo backpacking trips due to its extremely large external pockets that I can stuff my body w/70-200mm/2.8 w/a 1.4 converter or a 400/5.6. Super accessible in the outside pockets. I choose not to carry my 400/2.8 due to the weight. If I am doing just an overnight and can take the extra weight, take along the 24-70 for landscapes. Instead of my larger Gitzo tripod I carry a Gitzo 1588 monopod which actually works well as a walking stick. Blue Skies.
