Carbonite or Mozy are fine for most applications. But if you have 38K images, depending on resolution, if I do the math right you upwards of 380Gb. Both companies throttle bandwidth when you have that type of volume. Might be better with their commercial products but then that is expensive. I have just under 1tb of images. Mozy ran for something like 6 months on a continuous basis and never got much past 30%. Repeated conversations with their support were not any help. Even their stated reduction in thru put when you have large volumes weren't accurate.
So as stated by other folks on other threads look at backing up to individual hard drives. Read Peter's DAM book.
