Stock pictures are licensed with a very small percentage going to the photographer and you run your agency for the shareholders with a general disregard for the photographers that supply content and you know that there are photographers that would supply free content and you can use the content as a lost leader to direct paying customers to your web site.
I just wonder how much the people at Haap Media were paid when they sold the free portal to Jupiter Images that was subsequently taken over by Getty? Someone will have made money and it surely wasn't the photographers.
