Sarah, I'm in the process of uploading my files to Carbonite as we speak.
I have a total of 530 GB of data to upload and so far in 25 days I've
uploaded 52 GB using my cable modem connection with my computer connected much
of the day but not always. I estimate it'll take about 9 or 10 months to
get everything uploaded.
So, I'm not sure it's a practical solution to backup of large volumes of
data when you figure it would obviously take 9 or 10 months for me to
DOWNLOAD my backed up files from them if I ever needed to! In reality I wouldn't
need ALL the files at once so I could pick the ones I need right away and
get them in a reasonable period of time.
I have a free 1 year subscription I won in a photo contest or I wouldn't
even bother. I'll continue to use my rotating external hard drives for back
up and just consider Carbonite as a VERY remote backup should I ever need
it. Carbonite may be nice to access files from a remote location someday
but otherwise I can't see me ever using it.
