Re: [artshow_photo] Re: Printing Prints (Monitor choices)

Check out the NEC wide gamut offerings. You are going to have to pay close to
$1000-$1400 for a 100% RGB monitor for NEC and Eizo's start at $2000.
Eizo's are the standard wide gamut monitor but many other photograohers swear by
the NEC's as being equally good.
Once you train your eye to the subtle gradations in color in a good wide gamut
monitor, it is quite amazing and hard to go back to a standard LCD where
brightness and high contrast try to make up for a limited color spectrum in the
monitor.
I honestly though don't know if the Apple Display is a wide gamut monitor. Many
photographers use it and are happy with it.

Subject: [artshow_photo] Re: Printing Prints (Monitor choices)

Been following this thread, especially those who mention monitors. As it turns
out, I am about to invest in a new MacPro 8-core. (My trusty G4 of 10 years is
still going strong, but lacking the Intel chip, I am limited on software
updates, not to mention my 1.8 single processor is very slow crunching my
ever-larger psd files (some 2gb+).

I am considering the new Apple 27" LED Cinema monitor, but at a cost of nearly
$1000, I am not yet fully convinced that this is my best investment for image
editing.

Would appreciate knowledgeable opinions of other high end image-editing monitors
(22"-30") available today, especially compared to the new 27" LED Apple.
Thanks in advance.
