[artshow_photo] Re: Can I get a review of my proposed prices for the upcoming year?

What many responders aren't taking into consideration, I think, is the type of shows you are doing. Your show types don't sound like they are high end shows that have buyers into large pieces or expensive ones.

What you have to consider is not just your cost to print, mount, mat, and bag/frame an item but your expected sales volume to bring in enough money to cover your entry fee, purchasing matting, foam board, clear bags, frames, tent (if outdoor shows), insurance, display accessories (walls, bins, etc), etc.

Have you spent a year visiting art shows around you to get ideas for displays, atmosphere of displays, pricing, sizes, what types of photography is "popular" (many other photography booths with the same type - most likely nature/wildlife is going to be 50% of photography booths), types of photos for sale, seeing which type draws attention more. I suggest taking as long as even 2 years doing research before venturing into a BUSINESS endeavor, that's if you intend to actually make up your initial investment of all that goes along with your display, prints, frames, materials.

And frames, any framed piece I offer is a custom frame job, though purchasing frames from a good wholesaler, applying kraft paper backing, installing a hanging wire, which means I can charge for my custom framing service and finished quality. Who is going to pay an extra premium over the price of a mass produced frame from a local store when the buyer could just buy it unframed and go to that same store and end up paying less. If you're going to offer framed pieces, do it right and learn to custom frame it. That's my opinion.
