Re: [artshow_photo] Quantity vs Quality

Hi Michael.

Being somewhat new I can only offer newbie advice. I just started my 2nd
season . .TODAY . . and as normal am wiped out physically! So if I start to
have run one sentences just ignore the rest of the "answer".

It depends on what size you normally sell. I only have two sizes 20x30
gallery wraps and 8x12 matted in clear bags. (and 20x30 in clear bags with foam
core for sturdiness). So for me I don't need a lot of back up. I do have
perhaps 30-40 different images total but only 18 hanging show pieces. The rest
are in a "bin".

The odd thing I have found is that just when you think you have a clue what
people like the next show is completely different. I sold a piece that frankly
I though was just taking up space, no one as even glanced at it and BAM - SOLD.
Then I have pieces that people gush over and today? It was like they were
invisible.

My advice is to not go wile, have a fair amount of your good pieces and just
watch what people are attracted too. You will be surprised at that what YOU
feel is awesome customers will glance at and be attracted too something you
thought was just good.

I would not make many copies of each, two perhaps! Don't go overboard, just
watch and listen and realize this 1st year is all about learning.

Subject: [artshow_photo] Quantity vs Quality

Hello all, new member here. In preparation for my first fair, I wanted to ask
for recommendations as to how many different images to bring, and a ballpark as
to how many copies of each. I know you all must estimate based on sales and the
particular fair, but without that experience I'm a little lost. Thanks in
advance for any help.
