Not at all, Bryan. We have the full gamut, from little village shows with mostly very amateurish work right up to high end shows where a short run, limited edition print (photographic or painting) can go for thousands of GBP.
They're not always easy to find, for some reason. Web searches, as you'll know, often turn up stacks of results bearing scant resemblance to your search phrase, so if you don't have the time or patience to trawl through them you might just give up.
A pitch at a village craft fair here will cost maybe £25 - £50, but then the organisers' perceptions of their own quality take a sudden leap to ten times those amounts, for only a marginal improvement in facilities. At the former your work is on show against a couple of hopefuls offering badly composed, badly lit (often pop-up flash), unadjusted, out-of-compact photos on cheap, glossy home inkjet 6x4 paper - not a good place to try to get established as a good, fine art photographer. The latter is a very expensive way to test the water to find out whether your work is likely to sell at the top end, where a pitch costs more than the first print you'll sell, if you sell any at all.
That's why I was hoping there might be someone around here who has been brave enough to stick a toe in the water and come away with something to say about it.
