I say that it doesn't matter. There are controls on the camera that make it like a computer. We can manipulate images inside the camera to do things that Ansel Adams never thought about. Speaking of Ansel, he dodged and burned to the nth degree. He would have loved Photoshop. In fact, in a way, he invented it!

depends on if you believe photography is about capturing a scene, creating an image, or a mix of both. I tend to be somewhere in the middle.
