Alex,
I read or heard that search engines look at file names. I notice that none of your images that include a gecko have that in the file name and yet that is one thing that makes them distinctive.
I also know that search engines look for "alt" tags for images. This is an accessible feature for the sight impaired. But something search engines use to "read" an image. I looked at the source file for your blog and don't know whether your blog site allows you to include these "alt" tags.
If you want people to find you, hyphenating the URL will improve your placement. So alex-bramwell-photos.blogspot.com is better than what you currently have. This one feature can do a heck of a lot. I helped an actress with her website. She had been using a website that did not hyphenate her name as the URL. For 2 years the search engines had not included her. Within a couple of weeks of changing the URL to the hyphenated version she appeared at the very top of the search for her name.
Search engines also pay more attention to headings than text. So if you were to put a title of in the description for your photos, that would improve search results. <h1> rates higher than <h2>. But your site is currently using <h1>Alex Bromwell Photography</h1> so maybe <h2> for the images.
Also have you registered your site through Google's webmaster function?

All these suggestions come from attending talks in the Silicon Valley at places like Google, Yahoo, Microsoft, etc. I hope they help.
Best,
Don McCunn
