[artshow_photo] Re: Camera Investment?????

Hello,

I know you mentioned that you have vintage Nikon lenses but a consideration is Pentax since you mention waterproofing. I was a die hard Nikon user but when I went digital three things were part of my decision. Price because I was stepping away from commercial work. Weight because of two hip replacements and weatherproofing as I live in a humid part of the country and spend some time in dry dusty parts of the country.

I sold my Nikons and went with a Pentax DSLR starting with a 6 mp *istDL as starter, added a 10 mp K200d, which i love and will be adding the K7, which does great video. Like the Nikon I can use almost all of the pre digital Pentax glass and the cameras are weather sealed. For what I do I have no issue with the APS format and have purchased some great film and digital lenses with out breaking the bank. Pentax is maybe the only company that still creates great prime lens for those of us who don't think that zoom lenses are the end all, I do have some very good lenses in the 28-200 and 75-300 range but most of the lenses I use are prime lenses (18, 24,35 & 50 mm's) and I do not mind the 1.5 magnification factor.

I did a comparison of similar cameras on DP Review to make the final decision and have no regrets.
