Over the last 2 weeks, I have gone to 4 art shows in the Chicago area and this is what I found people selling:
1. flowers (all kinds in close generic shots)
2. Marshal Fields clock
3. The Bean
4. Wrigley Field
5. All types of standard landscapes, mostly color but some A. Adams B&W style)
6. Trees
7. Random street scenes
8. Doors
9. The whole country of Italy (mostly Toscana)
Although there were many great compositions, there were very few that really stood out. In fact it looked like many were tourist pictures, mounted and framed with a $160 price tag stuck on them.
Is this what sells? Do creative pics not sell as well as the tourist type? Or is this just what that particular artist likes and thus wishes to sell?
But I still have a whole summer of Art shows to visit.
Stay tuned :)
