RE: [artshow_photo] Weather - How bad does it have to be.

This is where rain walls really came in handy for me. Couple of shows in
Colorado long ago, wind throughout and rain off and on the entire time; the
"horizontal" kind of rain that comes into your booth no matter what.

Go to Flourish website and see their "rain walls" or see through walls.

And see them in action here:

Keep your walls in front rolled up like curtains and be ready to hop to the
task and take them down. The wall under the side awning is a rain wall,
clear view of artwork. The other walls are split walls so that I could roll
them "sideways" and still have people sneak into the booth.

I left them like this most of the show:

Good news is whoever shows up is eager to crawl into the booths instead of
passing by. Bad news is most people (in the Southwest) see a single fluffy
cloud in the sky and stay home. In Colorado I had my best show run of 3
shows ever during storm season.

Setting up is tricky. You need to set up the tent, walls and all. Then put
all your stock inside and set up from the inside out. You will need lights
for that most likely, even snap on battery powered. It's absolutely NO fun.

All depends on the individual show logistics too. Can you drive-up, set up
the canopy (factoring the winds) and work in relative dryness (that's my
show related meteorological term ;-) then unload into that secured space
without putting all of your investment at risk? The promoter expects you to
be the hardscrabble all weather pioneer reminiscent of the early settlers of
the art show territories. Do your best and they might throw you a booth
sitter.

Cheers..pter

Yea - it would have to be pretty bad to not go - I know my booth will be
facing north into the teeth of the wind and rain. I can have the booth
pretty shut up
with only one small door to get into. Wind chill should be near 38ish LOL

You will get the same stuff Oscar.

I'll have everything packed anyway - might as well get some free tax miles
out
of it!! LOL
