Here is what we always did. Norm had a baggie of Hot Wheels that he'd show the kids (while their parents were looking at the photos) and he'd let them play with the cars and let them choose one they could take home with them. Alternatively, he also always had a pocket full of "poppers", those little plastic half circles that you bend out and put down and they "pop". The kids loved those and they'd get to take one of those home.

This entertained everyone and people with kids had a good time in our booth, and sometimes even bought a photo.
