Oscar, it's always good to get feedback from others on your display. One thing you might look at is how this photographer, assuming he is one, and not in another medium, puts his display together. Look around at shows, see how successful artists present their work, you probably do. I get caught up up sometimes in my own booth, being present and don't walk the show enough. A good time to do this is first thing in the morning, before the show opens. I think it's fair to engage other photographers at shows, many times I see artists checking out what I'm doing but don't say a word, just in and out. I try to be open and friendly to other artists, I don't feel it's so much a competition for buyers since everyone's work is different. Unless you shoot postcards:).
I do like the Idea of not showing different styles, or subject matter -Stick with a certain look. It becomes who you are.
We don't all want to have the same formula. It can depend on the style of your work. Does it look good in black frames? Is it contemporary, or have an outdated look. There are many choices to follow, but mainly I think you need to be consistent. Have the frame compliment the work, and don't choose it because it's the easiest and less expensive way you have found.
I spend a considerable amount of time effort and $ on my framing. It does not work for all buyers, but it does compliment the work. It is contemporary. If you shoot B&W it could look more classic in style.
As far as print bins, I keep it to a minimum. I thought about eliminating it all together, but quickly realized that I would cut out the lower end of sales from people that liked the work. but could not either afford or had use for a large piece. Just make the print bin work attractive, I use 8 ply matts, and price them at $150. That way I'm not degrading the work on the wall by offering small prints (16x20'matted, 10"x 10"images) for $25 like I see so often. I sell plenty of $150 prints at a show, and don't think I'd sell twice as many if they were only $75. But I would have to produce twice as many prints if I went that route.
