For most of the well-known shows, any artwork that starts with a camera image is required to be juried under photography. This includes digital photography, manipulated photography, hand-colored photography and presumably painted photography. There may be exceptions to this rule in the smaller shows, and it's worth a try. But read the rules regarding photography specifically.
