I also was at Edina and Excelsior one week later. What amazed me about Scanlon's "Windows to the World" were the sheer number of people who were in his booth.
What seems to be really unique about his work is the overall size of his pieces, the bright colors, and the way his work is presented (in his booth). His presentation skills really stands above other photography booths at both art fairs. I would think that he probably does sell these pieces for those steep prices.
In terms of his imagery though, with the same camera and locations, I think a majority of professional photographers could produce the same quality photos. There's really nothing unique about his work and it hints a bit of Thomas Kinkaid.
Not to get of course here, but does anyone know what type of camera he uses. The sharpness of his work at these sizes is very good.
