[artshow_photo] RE: rental vans/trailers short term

Hello,

Been there a couple of times. My 1988 Dodge Caravan just died ( it caught
fire). Uhaul, Penske, Budget charge by the mile for their cargo vans and
Enterprise prices are insane for a van. The major car rental companies have
started putting locks & chains on the seats to keep people from removing
them to move large things. I know they do this in the larger Air Port
locations, I'm not sure about the smaller markets.

I've been able to use the mid size SUV or cross over MPV, which will carry
the caravan tent and the pro panels if they brake down. I try to avoid
strapping anything to carrier on the top unless there is no other way. But
then I do not like towing anything. The newer mini vans will work if the
seats fold into the floor or flat in the case the seats are wire and cabled
in so they can not be taken out.

I've found Alamo has good prices and sometimes you can catch a special under
their last minute deals. They have had a weekend special that starts when
picking up Thursday after 4PM and returning Monday. Enterprise now owns
Alamo and National as of last year but Alamo seems to still have the best
prices. Budget use to have a good weekend deal on their mini pickup trucks,
with the covered bed.

my car may be having an issue and I will either need to rent a car
that can tow my5x8 trailer, rent a van or something else == go to
Hinsdale tomorrow == any thoughts or suggestions of what I should
look into = thanks much. [I'm in des Moines, IA so that's my market]
