A Ford Escape has the ability to fold down the back seat and provide a flat
surface, which is where the 66.2 Cu Ft cargo space number comes from. The 29
Cu Ft is with the seats up and just includes the space behind the back seat
to the tailgate. Assuming you are not carrying more than one passenger you
should be able to fold down the back seats and have a pretty large capacity.
The only unfortunate things is there are two suspension towers that juts
into the flat floor space about 4 inches on each side.
Here is a link to photos of the Escape on the Ford site - look at the
picture showing the bike stored in the back. You will see there is quite a
bit of room.

Enterprise doesn't have anything other than full today...I am
checking via Kayak and other online and several have the Ford Escape
which is a mini SUV but it looks like might be large enough - I do
not intend to tow anything = mainly just put the stuff in it and
drive....my 5x8 doesn't fill all the way = more like 4x8 [32 SF? ] --
sounds like it wouldn't work without some changes being made....
