This is OUR (photographers) own fault.
We photographers have not bothered to educate the public or create a market
for our work.
Instead we have allowed the so-called art world, which knows nothing about
photography, to say what photography is or isn't. And we have decided to
participate only in the gallery/museum-centric speculation art market. In
other words, we have all opted for the art lottery and not bothered to build
our own market.
Sort of like Jeff Foxworthy's redneck joke Our retirement plan is the
lottery!
