Welcome Jake.
Let's put this out there right now from a relitive newbie to artfair myself (2nd
year).
It's a small business that needs a good amount of start up money, more then you
think as there are LOTS of little things to buy.
Another thing is what makes YOU different then the guy next to you.
Personally I love it. I like being outside talking to people and showing off.
What surprised me was the amount of "product" I needed from thet get go. You
have at least 3 10x10 walls to fill up plus it's good to have bins with small
pieces.
Think about transportation also. Is you vehicle big enough to hold a show or
can it tow a uHaul?
Last year I found out that art fairs have a lag time. Apply 3 or 4 months ahead
of time WITH a photo of your booth.
Just a few things to get you started on more questions. When I began I did not
know enough to even know what I didn't know!

Subject: [artshow_photo] Hello
Hello,
I am Jake Hoofnagle. At the beginning of this year I started my own photography
business. I have been taking pictures for over 15 years and decided it was time
to support my hobby with the sales of my photographs. I made the switch to
digital and now shoot with a Canon SX20IS. I would really like to go with a
DSLR, but just have not broke the bank buying a telephoto lens that would match
the zoom I have now. I am a wildlife photographer. I really enjoy shooting
birds. I have been thinking about selling photos at Art shows, but am totally
new to this. I have also been thinking about adding custom framing to my resume.
