If you do not have an EIN, your SSN works as one. If you don't have any
employees you don't need an EIN.

Hi all,
Still having trouble with the MN sales tax thing.
I tried to apply for a MN tax ID using their form online, but the form will
not proceed past a certain point, where it asks for the federal employer tax
ID number (which I do not have) and my social security number. While the
social security number is "required" on the form, the EIN is not.
I assume that I cannot get past this page of the form due to the fact that I
do not have an EIN. I do not wish to obtain an EIN as it would cost $50 to
do so. I have been doing shows since 2003 and have never needed an EIN.
I emailed them since no one answers the phone, but I am not expecting a
response. If they are not there to answer phones then they are not there to
answer emails, most likely.
I don't know what to do...
