I posted the message, below, to the micropayment photo list several weeks ago and haven't received any kind of feedback. Maybe I asked a stupid question, but I'll give it a try here. Are there any point and shoot or prosumer cameras that can take 5 bracketed RAW images (+ or - 2EVs each)? Or JPEGs (with an acceptably low amount of compression)? An aligned composite in camera would be nice, but it's not necessary. Obviously, I'm looking for a portable convenient HDR capable camera. Thanks.

I'd like to get a point-and-shoot or prosumer camera that would work well with one of the shareware or pro HDR softwares (e.g., Nik Efex Pro, Photomatrix, Picturenaut). I cannot seem to find any camera evaluations that address this issue specifically.
It would be great if the composite could be quickly produced in camera. Regardless, the composite or seperately bracketed images should not be overly compressed. A composite + normally exposed JPEG (like the RAW + JPEG I get with my current camera) would be ideal.
My feeling is that, in addition to expanding dynamic range, HDR also addresses some of the noise problems one encounters with smaller sensor point and shoot cameras (perhaps, making it OK to use low compression JPEGS?). I did encounter alignment problems with my 1st test of Picturenaut (Efex Pro aligned the images OK) using JPEGS output from my Panasonic FZ18.
Any recommendations camera or software would be appreciated. Any insights on the HDR process in general, especially regarding JPEG vs. TIFF vs. RAW are also welcome.
Thanks.
John
