In other words, keep it running, no matter what it looks like. In an era
of overpriced hybrids with toxic batteries, I think it's the highest
form of good stewardship to get every last bit of use out a vehicle. Too
many of the people guided by ecological considerations would disparage
you for your excessive use of transmission fluid, and might shake their
heads because you only get 20 mpg, but they have no idea of the
resources needed to make a new vehicle and don't realize that yours is
the greener path. If you don't need to make an impression of prosperity
to keep your clients, it's the right answer.

And I also concur that when you start to worry about general
reliability, rather than worrying about a specific component that can be
serviced or replaced, it is time to plan to start the game over.
