I would recommend the 27" iMacs as well. There's a lot of bang for the
buck there. I've been using one for about a year and I'm pretty happy
with it (about $1500 spent). My main complaint is the lack of
expandability like the Mac Pro has but the price difference is now over
$1000+ and that is without an LCD, so I chose not to go that route this
time. My limiting factor is the number of USB ports it has, and hubs can
be hit or miss, sometimes from day to day, so I wish I could add an
internal card for more ports and another internal drive, but beyond
that, It's been rock solid for retouch and editing, and I don't think it
would have any problems with basic video editing. The newer ones do have
the option of adding a solid state drive that would be really nice.
