CS3 is fine. I had GenFract as it came as a bundle with the other OneSoftware tools that I like. Depending on your use CS5 is improved and fully 64bit on Win/Mac and at least for me is working faster. I shoot stitched HDR panoramas with a 39mb Hasselblad. So my final file sizes are sometimes more than 1gb when I start final editing. So speed helps.
If you have a students in the family they can purchase CS5 at the education price. Helps a bit on the price.
