Re: [artshow_photo] Which is better

Rose,

It's not a matter of "better". You're dealing with different price
points. Many artists display framed work on the walls (booth or
gallery) and matted work in print bins. The framed work is obviously
more expensive, because the buyer is paying for a framed piece.

You can buy clear sleeves for your matted prints from www.clearbags.com

[artshow_photo] Which is better

I framed my own work for a gallery showing and I was wondering what is better. If framing them to sell is better or just using mats and foam board. I have seen some work on mats and boards and was wondering if you need to wrap them in plastic to protect them? I am a little confused as to what is better and I would appreciate the advice. I am sorry if I am repeating a question but I could not find what I was looking for in the archive messages. Thank you.

Re: [artshow_photo] 'Desk' for use in show tent?

When we did art shows we had a waist height cabinet/stand that held the cash register with shelves underneath for misc items and bags. Had an attractive carved railing around the front. We got it at a thrift for $5, it worked great but was heavy. We were often with a guy who had built an excellent cart & stand. Not sure I can remember it all but he had a flat cart with wheels, on top was a cabinet he made that lay on it's back and opened to store things inside - when he got there he unloaded it and it set up as a checkstand. He could bring everything in in one trip, including his work, unload, set it up and used the cart in some way. Everything had a place and set up very nice, when it was over, he broke it down, put it all back on the cart and made one trip back to his van. I drew it out one day but sure I don't have it anymore. I used to use the plastic drawers under the table to hold extra materials but they wouldn't be strong enough to use as a desk. You may find interesting items at thrift stores, the unfinished wood store, goodwill etc. I saw several items that could work at the Habitat for Humanity Restore on Friday. For my shop my husband used a folding table. Used 2x6's to make risers the legs sat in. Then used wood panelling to make a three sided backing that set around the table. Worked so good we did the same thing when we needed extra tables for shows. Made them the perfect height and instead of the wood panelling I made skirting to go around with slits at the back to slide things in and out. Very inexpensive and looked professional.

Re: [artshow_photo] 'Desk' for use in show tent?

They sell a shelf for it. I have it on order from a local music
store. But I also found that a shelf from my Pro Panels desk fits
when the cart is in the collapsed position. I'm picking up the
accessory shelf this week and will take some pictures.

I'm going to use a RocknRoller R12 all terrain with an accessory
shelf for a desk at shows. It will also enable me to keep my

Thanks James - the CostCo price is just about 6 cents higher than
GreatMats == I assume one would want at least 1/2 inch, and 10x10 to
cover the entire space within the tent/frame - or is 1/2 inch too
much? I'm also going to check into carpeting but this seemed to be a
bit easier to move and handle than a roll of carpet.

[I am doing at least 2 outdoor fairs this summer, one with concrete
street floor and one with grass] plus an indoor/concrete one.

[artshow_photo] Looking for bins to purchase in the Bay Area

I am getting set! I have acquired a nice set of pro panels and an EZ up canopy from others who have stepped out of the business. Now I need some bins to show matted prints. If anyone has something for sale within driving distance of Oakland, I would love to hear from you! I will need bins that can handle 16x20 as well as smaller and perhaps some larger sizes. Thanks so much! I am getting pretty excited about getting started!

[artshow_photo] Re: HELP - I need an answer FAST (Thank you)

> But do you use Velcro on canvas, too? She mentioned needing advice for securing her canvases.....

I've used heavy duty Velcro on canvas, at the bottom two corners, in very windy venues. On ProPanels, you need to use the hook velcro, so it will adhere to the loop/carpet walls.

Another solution might be to use eye-hooks on the back of the canvas pieces, little one. One each inside the frame at the bottom corners. You could then wire from the eye hook to the mesh panel without it being visible. Doesn't have to be tight, just enough to keep it from flapping.

RE: Selling Stock Photography zazzle

Hi All

I am inspired by many people who have made sales in zazzle. I have created a store for my self. Are there any tips to promote my store and get visibility.

Yesterday I started a new Zazzle page selling only mousepads, I am pleased to report I have sold my 1st mousepad already!

Fingers crossed it will be the 1st of many.

Re: [artshow_photo] Re:"Flooring" for booth

I got tiles from Costco. They do the trick but wont last as long as the other
tiles. I will choose the tiles b.c. when they wet they will dry fast and wont
hold the water. The draw back is that add time that takes to set up but it is
worth it. Your feet will appreciated the tiles..

I'm checking into some of the basics for shows this summer - I have
an 8 x 10 carpet that is showing a bit of wear -- findign some of
those interlocking tiles [$80 for 24 sq ft. at Costco online] but
still need to shop a bit - I wondered what others think of these
versus carpet? Any suggestions ref. how to find something closer to
10x10??
